Sustainable, Meaningful Benefits For Both Donor and Nonprofit
Alternative Gifting Solutions (AGS) is an initiative to solicit, manage and support
corporate donations of non-traditional cash and non-cash donations on behalf of not-for-profit organizations
worldwide.
In addition to "traditional" cash donations that can be used directly by nonprofits, AGS allows companies to
donate excess and underperforming assets that are not readily usable by the nonprofit. Examples include but
are by no means limited to raw materials, physical plants, underutilized industrial capacity and other real
estate.
To learn more about how your company can utilize Alternative Gifting Solutions, email Brett Perrine at
brett@stephensjourney.org. Let us customized initiatives that
will create sustainable and meaningful benefits for both you, the corporate donor, and the nonprofit.
Incremental, Traditional In-Kind Donations Via:
Media 4 Donations
Using our established relationships in the media and advertising communities, we make it easy for the corporate
donor to give through a Media 4 Donation program. For example, an athletic shoe company does not have
discretionary funds to donate cash. However, they do have an excess inventory of 10,000 pairs of a discontinued
style worth approximately $1,000,000. While typical "gift in kind type" organizations would gladly accept shoes
(readily usable by the nonprofit), AGS will not only accept the 10,000 pair but will offer to run $10 million of
media on behalf of the shoe company. (This media will be in keeping with the donors existing pricing and terms).
In turn, the donor will pay to AGS, +/- $9,000,000 in cash, plus an additional $1,000,000 of shoes. The shoes
will then be offered to approved nonprofit organizations. The benefit to the shoe company is that they were
able to increase their donation by an additional $1,000,000 million without incurring any additional costs.
Non-Traditional, In-Kind Donations Via:
Raw Materials
What if the shoe company does not have an additional $1,000,000 of shoes? Using the Alternative Gifting
Solutions Program, AGS could also accept, say, $1,000,000 of raw materials. These materials would then be sold
into the AGS established liquidation channels for the highest possible price. The cash value of the material
would then be paid to the approved nonprofit. Note that the Media 4 Donation model can also be used to further
benefit the corporation.
In either case, the shoe company recognizes meaningful and incremental donations without dipping into cash
(remember that the additional $1,000,000 donation was used to offset a necessary media campaign.)
Alternative Cash Donation Channel:
Third Party Funding
A corporation does not have the budget but would like to donate additional money to a nonprofit organization.
The corporation does not have surplus. AGS will introduce a third party funding organization to the corporation
and the corporation will pay back the donation amount by committing a certain amount of media spend through AGS.
For example: The funding company funds $1,000,000 that is directed to a specific nonprofit organization.
The corporation in return agrees to run $12,000,000 of pre-budgeted media through AGS. The benefit to the
corporation is that they are able to donate $1,000,000, and record the donation amount without a budget.
